Letter, Sir William Purdie Treloar, Lord Mayor of London, to Herbert Ivan Babbage, paper/ink, Stuart Barton Babbage, Auckland, New Zealand, 4 March 1907
One page typed circular letter in purple ink from Sir William Purdie Treloar, Lord Mayor of London, The Mansion House, London, England, to Herbert Ivan Babbage, St Ives, Cornwall, England informing him of the closure of the exhibition at the Guildhall Art Gallery and that the artwork Babbage had exhibited had not sold. Treloar asked Babbage whether he would be prepared to allow his artwork to be displayed and offered for sale at a forthcoming fete in early June to be opened by Queen Alexandra. The letter is addressed to 'Herbert I. Babbage, Esqr./ St. Ives,/ Cornwall.' It is on the letterhead of The Lord Mayor's Cripples' Fund and is signed 'W P Treloar'. The letter has been pasted onto page 12 of the scrapbook.
