Press clipping, article entitled 'The First Moving Pictures' published in an unidentified publication, Stuart Barton Babbage, Auckland, New Zealand, c. 1930
Article about experiments conducted by Sir John Hershel and Charles Babbage into how to show both sides of a shilling coin simultaneously leading to the development by their friend Dr William Henry Fitton of the Thaumatrope. There is also mention of other advances in the field Â? the zoetrope invented by William George Horner and Eadweard Muybridge's use of stop-motion photography. The press clipping has been pasted onto page eight of the scrapbook.
