The toy was made in 1938 and at the time sold for 8d in the United Kingdom. Early models had separate compartments for fuel and oil. It is representative of the full-size three-wheeled mobile refuelling tenders used in some British airports in the 1930s., such as those made by Thompson Brothers Ltd of Bilston, Staffordshire, England, from the mid-1930s until 1945.

Toy Thomson aircraft refuelling tender made of die-cast metal and finished in red paintwork with a brown uniformed driver. The tender is representative of the full-size three-wheeled mobile refuelling tenders used in some British airports in the 1930s.
