Bruno Benini took many shoe shots over the years. While Bruno Benini was the fashion photographer, most of the art direction, set design and props in these photographs were by Bruno Benini's wife Hazel Benini who opperated a fashion publicity business out of Bruno's studio from 1966. 'We were always having to come up with new ideas and props for these shots.' (Hazel Benini, interview with curator, 2008)
As a husband and wife team, Hazel and Bruno Benini often collaborated on fashion projects, for example for Sportsgirl or Raymond Castles.
The newspaper cuttings relate to the many photographs which the Beninis sent to press outlets around Australia for Australian fashion publicity. The tearsheets were collated by a press clipping service hired by Hazel and Bruno Benini from the Australian Press Cuttings Agency of Melbourne (established 1904).
