This photograph by Bruno Benini was taken in his studio in Melbourne, Victoria, during 1969. Model Marg Hanna wears an ostrich feather hood and a rabbit fur coat by the pioneering Melbourne-based designer Norma Tullo.
When creating the concept and look of his photo shoots, Bruno Benini was greatly assisted by his wife Hazel Benini's artistic skill and visual merchandising experience. The decorative sleigh shown in the photograph was sourced by Hazel in the ballroom of a house on Toorak Road, which she covered in patterned, light blue and light grey velvets. To give a realistic impression of snow, Hazel bought cooking salt by the pound at a grocers in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne and scattered it over the floor.
This photograph is a part of the Bruno Benini photography archive acquired by the Powerhouse Museum with the assistance of the Commonwealth Government's National Cultural Heritage Account.
