Christian costume worn by Ewan McGregor, consisting of tailed jacket, trousers, shirt, waistcoat, handkerchief, collar, bow tie, braces, top hat, pair of gloves and pair of boots.
Black wool fitted tailcoat with a black silk satin lining on the lapels and 4 black silk satin buttons on the chest, 2 smaller ones at each cuff and 2 at the top of the tails. Lined with black polyester, which is quilted at the top of the tails and under the arms continuing round the chest.
Black wool dress trousers, with black braid down the outside seam of each leg, with a centre crease. Fly buttons with 5 black plastic buttons and one black hook and eye. There are 2 tabs and a buckle at the back, to bring in the waist. The waistband is lined with black cotton and the front half of each leg is lined with black polyester. There are 6 black plastic buttons for the braces - 2 at centre back and 2 at each side of the front. There are 2 small black plastic buttons inside the centre front to button the trousers onto the shirt to prevent it riding up. There is a small pocket of black cotton set into both side seams.
White cotton dress shirt with white cotton waffle tuxedo bib front. Rounded stand-up collar and rounded shirt hem. Full-length sleeves with turn-back cuffs. The bib front fastens with 3 removable silver and mother-of-pearl studs, while the lower section of the shirt fastens with 3 normal faux mother-of-pearl buttons. The cuffs fasten with mother-of-pearl discs, made by Benson & Clegg. There is a tab with 2 button holes on it, on elastic suspended from the bottom of the bib front, which fastens to 2 buttons inside the trousers, to stop the shirt riding up. There are 2 long cotton tapes stitched to the outside of the shirt down the sides of the bib front, which tie round the back to gather in the shirt.
Oriental style waistcoat of red silk satin brocade, with a small repeat fleur de lis pattern, which is embroidered with large circular stylised Chinese dragons in orange and black cotton - the embroidery was done by workshops in India. There are 2 small pockets set on each side of the front. The neckline and hem is edged with dark brown plaited piping. The back of the waistcoat is red and black shot silk with 2 tabs and a brass buckle to tighten. It is lined with black polyester and there is a black press stud to fasten under the buttons at the front.
White cotton square handkerchief, with a woven border around the edge.
Starched white collar, with a black plastic stud at the back and a bone and brass stud at the front.
Cream ribbed polyester bow tie, made by Lido, with size chart label in the centre. The adjustable buckle is missing.
White elastic braces, with a brown leather piece at the join of the 2 front straps, with a small union jack label stitched below. The gold coloured buckle is engraved 'Thurston, London'.
Black beaver skin top hat with a petersham ribbon around the base of the hat. The beaver skin has been treated to give it more of a shine, which has made it solid. The hat is lined with a black leather band around the head, and white polyester satin.
White kid leather wrist-length gloves, with a large mother of pearl button at the wrist.
Black leather and suede ankle length boots, the foot is leather, with the section which rises around the ankle being suede. The boots button up the outside side with small black plastic and metal buttons. There is a 2"/5.5cm heel. The boots were made by Donna May Bolinger, which is handwritten on the inside sole.
