Airmail envelope, Djakarta-Sydney, 'BOAC Comet 4 Jetliner / First flight between London and Sydney', paper, made by BOAC, London, England, 1959
Philatelic cover commemorating the first flight between London and Sydney, with Indonesian stamps. The design on the left side of the envelope shows St Pauls Cathedral and the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a globe of the world between. The stamps depict symbols of industry to commemorate the 11th Columbo Plan Conference, held in Jogjakarta, and the President of Indonesia, Sukarno. The postmarks on the front of the envelope are from Djarkarta, Indonesia and dated 2 November 1959. The envelope is addressed to Qantas Empire Airways in Sydney. On the back of the envelope is a postrmark from Sydney, dated 3 Novermber 1959.
