Airmail envelope, Calcutta-Sydney, 'BOAC Comet 4 Jetliner / First flight between London and Sydney', paper, made by BOAC, London, England, 1959
Philatelic cover commemorating the first flight between London and Sydney, with Indian stamps. The design on the left side of the envelope shows St Pauls Cathedral and the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a globe of the world between. The stamps depict India, technology and the International Labour Organisation. The postmark on the front of the envelope is from Calcutta GPO and dated 2 November 1959. The envelope is addressed to Qantas Empire Airways in Sydney. On the back of the envelope is a postrmark from Sydney, dated 3 Novermber 1959.
