The film being shown is the MGM film "Knights of the Round Table" released in 1954. The 17-storey art-deco Cathay Building was completed in October 1939 and was, at time, the tallest building in South-East Asia. It featured a 1,300-seat cinema and a hotel tower block. The building closed in 2000 for redevelopment. R.J. Lucas was in Singapore for the demonstration of Perspecta Stereophonic Sound at the Cathay Cinema. He stayed at the Cathay Hotel.
