Poster, "The Novelty Combination", paper, Harrold & Parker, Manchester, England, 1890s

Poster entitled, "THE NOVELTY COMBINATION", designed by the firm of Harrold & Parker, Manchester, England. The poster features illustrations of a number of circus acts including members of the Toots and Gaga Weatherly's extended family. Heading the bill was Miss Emelina and there are two drawings of her performing her aerial act. The caption reads, "MISS EMELINA/THE AERIAL/QUEEN". To the right of Miss Emelina is a drawing of "The Boxing Cats" and on the left hand side of the page a drawing of "The Baldwin Monkeys". In the centre of the poster there are drawings showing the animal act conducted by the Weatherly Sisters' grandfather, William Fredericks who was also known as William Frederick Coleman, who appeared under the stage names of Professor Fredericks or Mr Fredericks. There is a drawing of Professor Fredericks holding a hoop while one of his cats jumps through it. There are also two drawings of "The Happy Family" showing his menagerie of monkeys, cats, rats, mice and birds performing various tricks. Further down the poster there are a number of drawings of the Rio Sisters, which included the Weatherly Sisters' mother and aunts, performing their acrobatic act. The overall caption for this set of drawings is "THE RIO/SISTERS/LADY ACROBATS/5 IN NUMBER 5". The final drawing shows the acrobat Jackles and the caption reads, "JACKLES/The/ALPINE CLIMBER". At the bottom left is the name of the artist who drew the poster which reads, "Will Parker/del & desn", and one of the lower right the name of the printers, "HARROLD & PARKER. 38 ROSAMOND ST EAST MANCHESTER." The poster is in poor condition.

Stamp on reverse of a sitting cat. The text enclosed within the body of the cat reads, "W.FREDERICKS/PROFESSOR/TROUPE OF PERFORMING CATS".
