Object statement
Buckle, silver, William Comyns & Sons, London, England, 1900
This buckle was made by the London based silversmiths William Comyns & Sons in 1900-1901.

William Comyns & Sons was a company of silversmiths founded in about 1859 when William bought Robert Tagg's business. He registered his mark on 26 January 1859 and was recorded as a plate worker. In 1885 Comyns' sons Charles and Richard joined the family business as partners and it was renamed William Comyns & Sons. William died in 1916 and the business remained family owned until 1953 when his son Richard died.
