Object statement
Radio receiver, Tasma model 1010, Bakelite / glass / fabric / electronic components, designed and made by Thom & Smith Ltd, Mascot, New South Wales, Australia, 1946
This Tasma radio has one of the most distinctive cabinet designs for an Australian mantle radio from this period. It is Tasma's most recognised radio design and has been nicknamed the 'bread loaf'.
Designed and manufactured by 'Tasma' Thom & Smith Ltd, Mascot, New South Wales, Australia in 1946.
This radio was collected between the late 1940s and the late 1960s when the donor was an active radio electronic engineer operating a business from home building and repairing radios. The donor accumulated a collection of radios, valves, radio journals and assorted electrical engineering material over a lifetime.
