Sample book, (part of a collection demonstrating kalamkari cloth painting), 'SriKalahusti Kalamkari Sample Set', paper / textile, written by Jonnalagadda Guruppa Chetty, Sri Kalahusti, Andhra Pradesh, India, 1985
Process sample book created by the donor J. Guruppa Chetty. Called "SriKalahusti Kalamkari Sample Set", the sample book illustrates eighteen stages of kalamkari cloth painting. Kalamkari translates as 'pen work'.

The front page is an 'Introduction by Guruppa Chetty recipient of National Award 9/48 Bahadurpeta, Srihalahasi-S17644 India.' Each page then has a piece of fabric stapled to it with a short description of how that fabric has been treated. The last page has a piece of fabric stapled to the page which contains information about the materials used. The notebook is bound in a pink cardboard cover with the pages stapled together. A printed border of lamps.
Notebook written and donated by Jonnalagadda Guruppa Chetty when he came out to Australia with the Indian contemporary crafts exhibition at the Crafts Council Gallery in the Rocks in 1985.

The book illustrates 18 stages in the process of kalamkari cloth painting. The first page is an introduction by 'Guruppa Chetty' recipient of 'National Award 9/48 Bahadurpeta, SriKalahusti - 517644 India'. The subsequent pages each has a piece of fabric stapled to it with a short description of how that fabric has been treated. The last page has a piece of fabric stapled to the page which has written on it information about the materials used. The notebook is bound in a pink cardboard cover with the pages stapled together and decorated with a printed border of lamp motifs.
