Handbag, polypropylene strapping, made by Jenny Mye, Torres Strait Islands, Queensland, Australia, 2004
Jenny Mye is a 79 year old artist who makes bags out of recycled material. These designs are based on traditional Torres Strait Islander coconut leaf bags. These bags are often used to carry to church.

Handbag, polypropylene strapping, made by Jenny Mye, Torres Strait Islands, Queensland, Australia, 2004

Square handbag woven from thick plastic tape with handles and a flip up lid with clasp. Predominant colour is blue with designs in yellow, orange, white and black woven through it. Original shop tag is attached to clasp.
