Object statement
Vase, porcelain, with hand-painted decorations, designed and made by Tegel en Fayencefabriek Amphora, Oegstgeest, Holland, c.1908
This hand-painted porcelain vase was manufactured in around 1908 by Tegel en Fayencefabriek Amphora, a porcelain factory in Oegstgeest in Southern Holland. The factory operated from 1908 to 1933 and employed a number of respected artists and designers. Unfortunately, the vase bears the name of the factory but not the maker's mark. Tegel en Fayencefabriek Amphora was influenced by the other Dutch porcelain factories, particularly Rosenburg and De Distel that manufactured well-crafted pieces with Jugendstil motifs and naturalistic designs.
This hand-painted porcelain vase was manufactured in around 1908 by Tegel en Fayencefabriek Amphora, a porcelain factory in Oegstgeest in Southern Holland.
Ian Neil Whalland (1963-1996) acquired this vase for his collection of twentieth-century decorative art objects. He lived in Sydney, and developed his collection during the 1980s and 1990s.
