Vase, porcelain, with a transfer printed pattern, made by Villeroy and Boch, Dresden, Germany, c.1900
A tall horizontal vase with rounded edges that taper gently into a narrow opening. The surface is decorated with a transfer printed pattern of circles, swirling forms, arches and abstract, geometric shapes in cream, brown, blue, mauve and gold. The rim is decorated with a blue line enclosed within two gold lines. Stamped and marked on base.
A 'Villeroy and Boch' mark, featuring the letters 'V' and 'B' intertwined within a horseshoe shaped crest is stamped on the base in brown. Handwritten in gold on the base is '2233 / L'. Stamped into the porcelain on base 'H / 8 L [backward] / F / F99F'.
