Needlework sample, chemise, cotton, made for the Sydney International Exhibition 1879, maker unknown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 1879

Miniature short-sleeved chemise in coarse white cotton has handmade broderie anglaise edges at the front opening, sleeves and neck and insertions in the front yoke. The run and fell seams are machine-made and linen covered metal buttons are attached at the quarter points around the hem.
