The announcement on 23 September 1993 that Sydney had been selected to host the 2000 Olympic Games was greeted by the local media with enthusiasm. This placard, which was printed by the Daily Telegraph Mirror the day after the announcement, features the bold banner, "Sydney Games Victory", and the Sydney Olympic Bid logo.
