The postcard and stamps were issued in the USSR in 1976-1977.
Sergei Korolev (1907-1966) was the lead Soviet rocket engineer and spacecraft designer in the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union during the 1950s and 1960s.


Soyuz 22 was a 1976 Soviet manned spaceflight. Cosmonauts Valery Bykovsky and Vladimir Aksyonov spent a week in orbit photographing the surface of the Earth with a specially-built camera.

Postcard, Sergei Korolev / Soyuz 22, cardboard, USSR, 1976-1977

Postcard with sepia image of Sergei Korolev in the upper left side. Next to the photograph is a picture of a rocket. Underneath is text in Russian and a stamp that relates to the Soyuz 22 mission. The two Russian cosmonauts are depicted in their spacecraft. In the upper right corner is a a stamp printed onto the card that depicts a rocket and satellite in front of the Earth. There are two red ink postmarks. On the reverse of the postcard is handwritten text in [Russian].
