Portrait of Lawrence Hargrave, his wife, their five children, family companion and governess. From left to right - Susan Shepherd (who lived with the family from 12 to 65 years of age, originally as a maid), Geoffrey Hargrave, Mrs Margaret Hargrave, Margaret Hargrave (standing at back), Helen Anne "Nellie" Hargrave (standing at front), Lawrence Hargrave, governess (name unknown), Brenda Olive Hargrave (on governess's knee) and Hilda Hargrave. This photo was taken on the day of Hargrave's kite lift experiment, 12 November 1894. Copy print of P2903-9/67.
