The medal was made to commemorate three Australian champions who competed in the Paris Olympic Games of 1924.
The medal was made to commemorate three Australian athletes who were champions in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, and who had some connection with the New South Wales suburb of Manly. Andrew Murray (or "Boy") Charlton was educated at Manly Public School (A To Z of Who is Who in Australia's History, 1987, p.103). Richmond (or Dick) Cavill Eve was manager of the Manly Baths, active in the lifesaving movement and figured in numerous rescues at Manly Beach (The Oxford Companion to Australian Sport, 1992, p.133). Anthony William Winter became a fireman and was stationed at Manly (A.B.D. 1990, p.542).
The medal was made to commemorate three Australian champions who competed in the Paris Olympic Games of 1924.
