Build the Collection Endowment Fund which delivers us $70,000 a year to acquire new objects. The bigger the fund, the greater the Collection will become.

Acquire specific objects spanning history, science, technology, design, transport, decorative arts and more.

You can also donate a significant object. Thousands of Collection objects have been donated by generous individuals, like yourself.

User keywords, or 'tags', are words added to object records by other users to enhance their discovery. You can add keywords that may be useful in helping others find this object.

We are experimenting with tagging because sometimes museums describe objects in language that is highly specialist and user added keywords are useful in bridging the 'semantic gap' between the language of the museum and that of the user.

Butter cooler, galvanised metal, made by Willow, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 1930s

Butter cooler with cylindrical cover with wired and rolled lower rim, indented top, central pierced moulded dome 1.5 high under strip metal handle. Lid fits over a shaped dish, with raised centre platform for the butte. Indentation on top would have carried water which seeped through the cloth to the channel around the dish below.
