Violin, Arthur Pye, Newcastle, NSW, 1953 (B Nemec 1994). Violin by Arthur Pye, Australian, 1953. (LC)...Two piece back with varnish of light brown colour. Chin piece made of ebony, bridge has inscriptions "Mirecourt" and has become detached from table. (SB).

Two-piece back cut on the quarter; medium horizontal curl; uneven colouring where varnish has worn; sides and head similar; narrow purfling set well in from edges; holes uneven; golden-brown varnish; ebony pegs; black painted metal tailpiece; ebony button.
