Violin, Anders Neilsen, Sydney, 1920 (B Nemec 1994). Violin made by A. Neilson, 1920. ( L 973). (SB)...Violin and case, case with blue felt lining, 1 compartment with key black vinyl on wood, made in Czechoslovakia. (OF).
Anders Neilsen (1854-1926) generally used Tasmanian timbers for his violins; Huon king pine for tables and Tasmanian blackwood for backs. The firm of Max Murcher Pty Ltd of Sydney usually sold his instruments. A music stand made by Neilsen is also in the Museum's collection (H8597)

Table of evenly-spaced grain; one-piece back of straight narrow curl; ebony fingerboard; brown wood tuning pegs, tailpiece, chinrest and tailpin.
