Violin, with case, wood/metal/felt, Charles Henry S Clarke, Sydney, Australia, 1949
This violin was designed and made by Charles Henry S Clarke. Clarke began his career in Smith's workshop, and left after several years to open his own shop in Turramurra. Clarke based his violins on Stradavari and Guarneri models.

Violin (Part 1) made by Charles Henry Clarke (see above). Fine tuner (Part 3) for violin made by Cathedral.

Violin, with case, wood/metal/felt, Charles Henry S Clarke, Sydney, Australia, 1949.
Violin, Charles Henry S Clarke, Sydney, 1949 (B Nemec 1994), with case and components.

(Part 1) Violin, two piece soundboard with wide vertical grain, two piece back with pronounced straight curl on left hand side curl faint with vertical grain more prominant, the halves are not well matched. Finished with orangish brown colouring. Ebony fingerboard, grained wooden chinrest, brown wood tuning pegs, purfling top and back, two fine tuning knobs on tailpiece for two top treble strings.

(Part 2) Case, contoured top with flexible leather handle, blue felt lining, compartment contains 15 bridges of various makes, chinrest, adjusting pin.

(Part 3) Fine tuner, steel.

(Part 4) Sound post, wood.
