Description
Building stone, Greencraig (or Scolgate), quarried at Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire, England, purchased 1883.
This is a fine sandstone of a greenish tint as its name implies. It is found in the upper series at the quarries. It is much admired and used for reredoses (brick or stone back of a fireplace or open hearth) and altar screens as it carries a very fine arris and is durable in work.
