Dark royal blue fitted waistcoat with gold embroidery waistcoat, probably Indian. (SB)... Origin unknown.

Dark royal blue fitted waistcoat with white felt applique design loosely based on plant structures. Plaited gold metallic braid attached with white hand sewing outlines felt shapes and forms wavy patterns between motifs. Also decorated with irregular shaped gold-coloured sequins, each with one clear bead. Armholes, collar and halfway down fronts edged with 'pinked' felt. Two hip pockets of 'pinked' edged felt. These and three felt-lined shaping vents at back have velvet applique and metallic thread decoration. Lower edge to halway up fronts and sides, and the bottoms of pockets have machine attached ready-made braid of metallic thread loops. Many loops have sequins (perhaps originally all of them). Waistcoat is fully lined.
