Description

Musical automaton with records (12), horse race, wood / brass / glass, unknown maker, made in Germany, c 1890

Upright cabinet made from wood with turned finials at top. The cabinet consists of three compartments, one holds the metal disc, one stores the works and the third is a money drop . The discs are fitted vertically. The front of the door has a glass door revealing the circular metal disc. The door below reveals figures of race horses in front of a scene of a race track, the horses move when the disc is playing. On the side below a plaque is a wooden handle for cranking the works, this is removable and a key.
