Grecian slippers, pair, women's, silk/satin/leather, [France], 1880-1890.
Pair of hand made women's Grecian slippers or Boudoir shoes, for indoor wear, of turnshoe construction, with round toe and covered louis heel. The shoes consist of yellow silk uppers covered with brown and blue fabric in a sueded effect [flock]. The shoes feature a cut away waist with the quarters and vamp sloping from the centre front and back to meet at the waist, with ruched instep straps. The vamp features a ruched trim and bow at the throat, the edges of the trim and bow finished in light blue satin. The shoes are lined in the same light blue satin as is the padded sock. The heel is covered in the same fabric as the uppers with a leather top piece. The outsole is in tan leather.
