Octant, ebony/brass/bone, Henry Hunt, Cork, Ireland, c. 1850 (OF). 1 quadrant by Henry Hunt, Cork, Ireland - 1850. Ebony frame ivory are, inverting & erect telescope, also simple eye-piece, brass arm & vernier scale - boxed (SB). 1 octant...(LC).
Ebony, brass and bone quadrant. Bone inset scale marked 0 - 100 (degrees), Vernier scale marked (0-20), One horizon glass and one index glass, two sets of filter finger and tangent screws, mounted on three brass legs. Boxed into a simple wooden structure with two metal hinges to the side and a sliding clasp to the other.
