Hat, womens, straw / feather / silk, made by Debenham & Freebody, West London, England, 1900-25.
Hat of woven maroon staw, with a shallow slightly flattened crown and a wide, tapering, curved brim that is turned up and stitched to the crown at one end. All sides of the crown are trimmed with large magenta pink ostrich feathers that extend from the top edge of the crown to the brim. The inner crown is lined with black [silk] taffeta lining gathered in at the centre with a self fabric drawstring. Fabric label with manufacturer's details attached to inner crown.
