Slip on shoe, left of pair, womens, tabbed, silk satin / linen / leather, made by Gundry & Sons, London, England, c1840-1849
Unworn womens tabbed slip on shoe of turnshoe construction with oval toe and covered wedge heel. Shoe consists of ivory silk satin upper with tab front, oblique side seam and back seam all bound in gold and decorated with a gold rose and silver floral button at the centre stitched onto the tab front. Lined with linen and kid and the sock in white kid. Heel is covered in the same fabric as the upper and the sole is leather.
