Slip on shoe, right of pair, womens, silk brocade / leather / brass, made by Gundry and Sons, London, England, c1839

Womens slip on right shoe of turnshoe construction with pointed toe and stacked heel with 3 lifts. Shoe consists of ivory and gold silk brocade upper in a diamond pattern with square throat, oblique side seams, back seam and bound top edge, lined with linen and kid. Upper decorated with a silk bow at the throat and leather heel is edged with brass nails. The shoe is an imitation medieval style, possibly for fancy dress.
