Ankle boot, straight, one of pair, womens, laced high lows, silk / leather, maker unknown, England, [1804]
Womens straight front laced ankle boot of turnshoe construction with oval toe and heel of rand construction with 3-4 lifts. Boot consists of tan silk uppers with short vamp, closed tab, front laced over tongue stitched at one side and 13 pairs of lace holes. Boot has a single cream cord lace knotted at the bottom with an ivory silk bow stitched onto the vamp. The uppers are lined with fawn linen and stiffened with a coarse cotton sock. Heel is leather as is the sole.
