Sandal clog (geta), straight one of pair, adults, velvet / lacquered wood / straw, maker unknown, Japan, 1850-1900
Straight one of a pair, adults inverted V sandal clog (geta), possibly of cemented construction with round toe and wedge shaped heel in one piece with sole. Sandal clog consists of a laquered wood sole with an interwoven straw-work insole and blue inverted V straps joined at the centre, passing into the sole at the heel breast. Black lacquer sole continues into a wedge shaped stilted heel with Japanese character on top and a sloped stilt at the front.
