Ankle boot, straight one of pair, mens, leather / hide / metal, maker unknown, Southern Palestine (now Israel), late 19th century
Unworn straight one of a pair mens ankle boot of turnshoe construction with visible stitching at edges of sole with pointed upcurved toe folded over and nailed onto the vamp and no heel. Boot consists of leather upper featuring a peaked cap and peaked tongue with open tab, reinforced patches of leather over side seams, one piece leg cut higher and peaked at the back and one piece outside counter. Upper closed with strap, quarters and buckle appear to be of reused materials. Hide sole features the grain side down.
