Lace border, Mechlin, linen, bobbin made, Flanders (Belgium), 1825-1835 (OF). Flanders mechlin, 18th century, the ground is worked two sides plaited and four sides twisted, pillow made (SB).

Repeating design of a boteh shape which fills each scallop and terminates in a floral spray. Floral dots elsewhere and a mesh ground.
Technique
The solid areas of the design are worked in cloth stitch and outlined with a gimp thread.
The only filling stitch is an arrrangement of tallies in a mesh framework, as in H5111-17
The ground is plaited four times and twisted twice.
