Support the Powerhouse with a tax-deductible gift
While our digitisation project is well underway with 80% of collection objects currently listed online, there is much more work to be done. Your donation will assist the Powerhouse to add high quality photographs and full background information for the 50% of online objects with incomplete listings.
Started in 1879, the collection captures the ideas and technologies that have changed our world and the stories of the people who created them. As well as adding objects of significance to the collection, the Museum has the enormous task of maintaining and conserving the objects under its care.

Description
Black blonde lace border with irregular picoted scallops along the headside.
PATTERN:
A repeating design of relatively large curving floral sprays which form the headside scallops
STITCHES/TECHNIQUES:
The solid areas of the design are worked in cloth stitch using a soft, thick pair of worker threads to create a strong contrast with the rest of the lace. A small three petal flower in each repeat is worked in half stitch. All of the design elements are outlined with a multi-strand gimp The only filling stitch is the standard honeycomb net. The picots are worked by twisting two threads together around the pin.
