Description

Exhibit C. This was cut from a gum tree on the Castlereagh River last year the tree was marked LXXXVI but only the last two letters could be preserved as some of the over grown wood broke away in removing it. This tree was one of a series marked by Mr. G. B. White when surveying the Castlereagh River in 1849-50 about 28 years ago. (SB).

"No. 1907 D / IMPRESSION OF A SURVEYOR'S / MARK / Cut from a Gum Tree on the Castlereagh River. / The tree was marked L X X X V I but only the last / two letters could be preserved, as some of the over- / grown wood broke away in removing it. This tree / was one of a series of trees marked by Mr. G. B. White, when surveying the Castlereagh River in 1849 / and 1850." (PL).

Impression of a Surveyor's mark. 1850 this was cut from a gum tree on the Castlereagh River. The tree was marked LXXXVI but only the last two letters could be preserved as some of the overgrown wood broke away in removing it. This tree was one of a series of trees marked by Mr J B White, when surveying the Castlereagh River in 1849 and 50 (LC).
