Object statement
Bricks (2), [sandstocks], clay, Sydney, Australia, c 1805
According to original Stock Book records the bricks were removed from the Department of Education Building in Sydney, suggesting the bricks were approximately 100 years old. An early Museum label further elaborates by indicating the bricks were removed during renovations of the building in 1905. The current Education Department Building was constructed in 1912-1914. The bricks may therefore have come from an earlier building.
