Object statement
Bricks (7), clay, J Dewar, Bathurst, Australia, 1884-1899
The upper face of most of these bricks is stamped with the name 'Dewar'. James Dewar both senior and the younger were brickmakers in Bathurst.

Dewar snr and subsequently his son seem to have worked as bricklayers in Bathurst from 1884. The bricks were acquired by the Museum in 1899.
Stock book records record these bricks were made for furnaces and other ordinary building purposes. The index of Museum correspondence suggests the bricks were acquired from the Bathurst Museum.
