Ship model, captain's gig, clinker built, single banked, complete with 6 thwarts with pillars for support, rudder and tiller, brass rowlocks. Finished in varnished wood and mounted on turned wooden columns in a glass case, Mr Charles Chidgey, Australia, [c 1900] (OF).
This model is a good example of Australian craftwork in ship model making. It is entirely likely that boats made by the Chidgey boatyard included clinker built single bank gigs similar to this model.
