The aircraft engine was made in 1918
The aircraft engine was first used by the Royal Air Force (RAF). It was then sold to the Aircraft Disposal Company Limited in the United Kingdom, a subsidiary of Handley-Page. The engine was then dispatched to an unknown owner in Australia and for unknown reasons was then sold to Horrie Miller prior to registration. Qantas then bought the engine in 1923, but it crashed that same year. It was rebuilt and sold to K. Frewin in 1927. Lastly it was used by Bulolo Goldfields Aeroplane Services Limited. It crashed again in 1928 and was struck off the register in 1928 by Civil Aviation Authority. Full size aircraft engine fixed to stand. Originally from a Bristol F2B G-AUEB aircraft. The V8 water-cooled engine features direct drive and an overhead camshaft. The horsepower developed at 1800 r.p.m is 312 and at 2100 r.p.m it is 343. The bore is 140mm, the stroke 150mm and the total displacement 18.47 lit. The fuel consumption is reported as 21.5 gallons per hour and the weight empty is 606lbs. The engine includes dual ignition and pressure lubrication to five main bearings and weighs approximately 6 cwt.
