Space cover, Vostok and Yuri Gagarin, paper, USSR, 1961-1962
The envelope was made in the USSR in 1961-1962.
Yuri Gagarin (1934Â?1968) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human being to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961.

Space cover, Vostok and Yuri Gagarin, paper, Russia, 1962

Philatelic envelope relating to Vostok 1 and Yuir Gagarin. There is a colour drawing of Gagarin against a background of stars and the Earth and a rocket on the left side of the envelope. A Russian stamp is printed on the envelope and depicts the Soviet flag and the hammer and sickle against a globe. There are two postmarks in black ink depicting a spacecraft and the Earth and dated 12 April 1962.
