Freeze dried ice-cream in sealed rectangular foil pack with blue, white and red label on front depicting a manned silver nose cone of a space craft orbiting a white planet, with blue background. The rear side features text only on a white rectangular background.
Marks
The front side of the packet reads (from top of bottom), 'SPACE AGE FOOD / LIKE THE ASTRONAUTS EAT' written diagonally in the top left corner. Below this, 'FREEZE DRIED / ICE CREAM' and right justified, 'VANILLA / CHOCOLATE / STRAWBERRY' and 'READY TO EAT / SPACESNAK TM'. 'USA' is printed in red on the bottom of the space craft with 'DO NOT OPEN IN THE MUSEUM' inside a red circle. The front also contains, '5/8 OZ. / NET WT.' and 'NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM / SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION / WASHINGTON, D.C.'. On the back it reads, 'ASTRONAUT / ICE CREAM / A delicious ready-to-eat assortment of / freeze-dried strawberry, chocolate and vanilla / ice cream that melts in your mouth. / Freeze dried ice cream similar to this way / enjoyed by U.S. astronauts on the Apollo mis- / sions.
