Description
Swatchbook, silk brocade/paper, France, c. 1840
Swatchbook, large bound volume with brown linen cover and rigid spine. Each page containing either 1,2 or 3 large woven polychrome silk brocades, each sample is adhered to the page with printed paper stickers. Front cover, adhered paper shield shaped label with decorative printed black and white border design. All brocades are of a bold floral or foliate design, some with woven metallic thread.
