The mirror advertises Life Buoy soap. Along the bottom of the mirror is printed "THE PROPERTY OF LEVER BROTHERS LIMITED L, 23, 5, 96,"

The mirror appears to date to between 1913 and 1928 because the HMAS Sydney was launched in 1913 and paid off in 1928.

Description
Advertising mirror, Lifebuoy Soap and HMAS Sydney sailor, glass / wood / paper, Lever Brothers Limited, Australia 1913-1928.

Rectangular mirror in wooden frame, vertical orientation. The mirror is printed with the image of a sailor leaning through a life buoy and hauling up a rope fastened around a box of life buoy soap. The sailor's cap bears the legend "H.M.A.S. SYDNEY". The box of soap depicts an old sailor throwing a life buoy and bears the legend "LIFE BUOY / KILLS GERMS / IN THE / WASH TUB / SOAP". The sailor is dressed in white and blue. The life buoy and package is salmon, yellow and white. Along the bottom of the mirror is printed "THE PROPERTY OF LEVER BROTHERS LIMITED L, 23, 5, 96,"
