Tube skirt, woman's, cotton, complementary warp patterning, made in the Insana region, West Timor, 1950-1980
Warp faced, plain weave made up of four panels joined at the selvages and seamed to for a tube. Pattern is mirrored across the central axis, the end panels show narrow stripes (warp) of purple, pink, white, red, green and yellow flanking a wider band of red and white hooked diamonds worked in an alternating float weave. Plain indigo ground (undecorated) towards the selvages. Narrow strips of floating weave are repeated on either side of the central design, which displays narow, alternating blue and brown stripes.
