Description
Clutch purse, silk / rayon / beading, maker unknown, (India), 1920-1930

A rectangular shaped envelope style clutch purse with a fawn taffeta / rayon lining. Gusset in the sides and base. The front is embroidered with a chain stitch in polychrome colours and glass beads in fawn and silver grey designed in stylised flowers. The inside of the purse is lined with same fawn fabric, and divided into two parts with a change purse attached to the back of the bag. There is a mirror inset inside the flap and a press stud fastening. It is all machine sewn except the embroidery.
