Amulet, male deity, light green faience, Egypt, BCE 664-525
Dated between the late period XXVI Dynasty and the Saite period.
Harpocrates is the Greek adaption of the Egyptian deity Horus as a child, identified by the side lock of hair and finger in his mouth. To the Greeks, Harpocrates was the god of silence and secrecy.
This is part of a large collection of antiquities, including Egyptian faience figures, bronze figurines, scarabs and earthenware objects. They originate from Egypt, Italy, India and the Middle East.
